Each qualified employee retirement plan and qualified annuity plan must be considered individually in satisfying its distribution requirements. However, if you have more than one tax-sheltered annuity account, you can total the RMDs and then satisfy the requirement by taking distributions from any one (or more) of the tax-sheltered annuities. If an employee doesn’t have a designated beneficiary, distribution must be made under Rule 1.

Though we do not always have choices in how we get to exist in this life, we do have a choice about our attitude. Yes, that’s a cliche, but there is something to be said for the profundity of this small act of rebellion. By constantly choosing and rechoosing a positive attitude, we can transform our experiences from bouts of luck or misfortune into simple experiences. With the right attitude, we can even appreciate the hard parts of our lives and how they have turned us into who we are. You may have heard the phrase “trust the process” – that’s exactly what you need to do when you decide to surrender. In order to successfully recover in treatment, it’s not enough to simply comply. What is the difference between complying and surrendering, and why do people who surrender have more success in their sobriety? No matter how fast we pedal, that destination can never be achieved.
However, there are ways to practice or trigger surrender when you need it. Though resistance can be discussed with relative ease, in reality, it is a strong and fickle force. Just as healing is not linear, the dismantlement of resistance and construction of surrender is not linear either. Breakthroughs occur, and moments of clarity create impactful positivity and intense progress.
